Dr Inventor Meeting

Maynooth University, Co. Kildare, Ireland.

Thursday 29th -Friday 30th, January 2015

The Jan. 2015 Dr Inventor meeting will be held in Maynooth University.
Maynooth is a small University town about 25km west of Dublin, while the airport is about 15km north of the city. Maynooth campus hosts two separate institutions: Maynooth University and Pontifical University - St. Patricks College Maynooth (focused on Theology etc.).

Transportation

Dublin is well served by many European airlines so it should be fairly easy to get flights: Dublin's arriving airlines, like RyanAir, Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Lufthansa and many others.

To Maynooth from the Airport:

General travel information from the airport is available. Unfortunately, almost all public transport goes through Dublin city.

1) Probably the best way to get to Maynooth from the airport is AirportHopper.ie. The Airport Hopper bus leaves the airport around every 2 hours between 04:00 - 18:50. Pre-booking is strongly advised and journey time is around 40 minutes. Timetable, prices etc are on their website.

2) Bus Eireann also do a coach/bus from Dublin Airport to Maynooth, with later ones being at 20:20 and 23:20. Bus Eireann to-from Maynooth has details.

3) A taxi from the airport to Maynooth will probably cost €60 - €90 Euro.

4) Take the AirLink bus to "Dublin Connolly" train station and from there take the train to Maynooth.

5) Alternatively you can get a bus into Dublin and then the 66 bus to Maynooth, but this could take some time.

Train & Bus between Dublin and Maynooth

1) Irish Rail train service runs between "Dublin Connolly" (station) and Maynooth. Journey time is around 50 minutes Irish Rail.ie. There are usually between 2 and 4 trains per hour.

2) Maynooth is on Dublin Bus route 66 running between Dublin city and Maynooth Timetables and real-time bus information is available Dublin Bus.ie. Journey time is around 1 hour and there is usually a bus every 30 minutes. (Note that buses 66A, 66B and 66C do NOT service Maynooth).

Free wifi is available on the bus and train (you have to register with them) though it’s a bit slow.

Accommodation in Maynooth

I recommend staying in The GlenRoyal Hotel which is about a 10-15 minute walk from campus. Quote "Dr Inventor" and you should get a price of €72 B&B per single-rrom per night or €92 B&B per Twin/Double-room per night. You should also get complimentary use of the leisure facilities. More expensive options hotels include Carton House and Moyglare Manor.

On Campus accommodation might become available and is booked through the Conference Center at www.maynoothcampus.com.

I'm sure some people intend staying in Dublin after this meeting. It is probably easier to stay in Maynooth for the meeting and then move to a Dublin hotel on Friday. However, many people commute from Dublin to Maynooth, and if you choose to stay in Dublin during the meeting I would advise using a hotel close to “Connolly Train station” to reduce your commute time.
