Efficient compression of digital holograms for Internet transmission of three-dimensional images

Abstract. We compress digital holograms of three-dimensional objects that were created using phase-shift interferometry. Compression losses in the reconstructed objects were quantified. We empirically verify transmission speedup due to compression, using an Internet-based application.
