I am a PhD student in Computer Science funded by an international scholarship from Irish Universities Association and China Scholarship Council. My research is focus on Web-based mapping,Open Source Geo-processing and progressive transmission for Location-based Service(LBS). This research is a part of LBS strand in StratAG project funded by SFI. My supervisor is Dr. Adam C.Winstanley who is a Co-PI of StratAG in NCG and the Head of Department of Computer Science in NUIM. I also work with other two co-supervisors: Dr. Peter Mooney who works for the Environmental Protection Agency and Dr. Padraig Corcoran who is a senior researcher in UCD. Currently we are working to build a model of dynamic delivery of geospatial data for Location-based Services use.
Research Interests

Current Research

My current research interests are in the held of progressive transmission of vector- Interests based spatial data with specific emphasis on delivery of spatial data to mobile-device based Location-based Services. This research involves using a fully open source software approach for map generalization and spatial data delivery. This research also uses techniques from pattern recognition and compter vision techniques to enhance the map representation and effciency of data delivery. Overall this research looks to provide a framework for progressive transmission of spatial data which will lead to an improved user experience when using Location-based Services (LBS) for real-time download and visualising of spatial data on small-screen mobile devices.
