This conference seeks to draw together researchers, teachers and programmers who study or work with the Java programming language to discuss the principles and practice of its use in a friendly and convivial academic environment.

This year's conference is being held in co-operation with ACM SIGAPP, the Special Interest Group on Applied Computing, whose mission is to further the development of new applications and the transfer of computing technology to new problem domains.

Topics

We invite papers exploring all aspects of Java programming; in particular we seek research papers covering the principles of programming in Java, and teaching and experience reports dealing with the practice of Java programming.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Software Engineering with Java
  • Program Design and Implementation
  • Design Patterns through Java
  • Novel Applications of Java
  • Performance of Java Programs
  • Practice and experience
  • Teaching Java Programming
  • Applications in science, engineering and mathematics
  • This list of topics is not intended to be exhaustive; papers related to other aspects of Java programming are welcome.

    The Inaugural Conference on the Principles and Practice of Programming in Java PPPJ'02 was held in Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland on June 13-14th, 2002.
