As part of the Dept. of Computer Science Interdisciplinary Seminar Series, Ross Finman (Marine Robotics Group, MIT) will present a seminar at 11am Thursday, Oct 3rd, entitled, "Lifelong Object Segmentation from Change Detection in Dense RGB-D Maps ". An abstract for the seminar is given below.The seminar will be held in the Computer Science Seminar Room (CSR), on the ground floor of the Department of Computer Science.
Computer Scientists at the Department of Computer Science, NUI Maynooth and the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL), MIT have had their work spotlighted by MIT News. The research is being carried out by NUI Maynooth PhD student, Thomas Whelan, with his supervisor John McDonald, and collaborators Prof. John Leonard and Dr. Michael Kaess at MIT. The focus of the work has been development of new methods for dense 3D mapping of extended scale environments using RGBD cameras such as the Microsoft Kinect.
