[further information] Erasmus Mundus MSc in Dependable Software Systems (desem)

Course Co-ordinator: Dr. Rosemary Monahan

This programme is aimed at highly skilled students who wish to gain the knowledge, skill and in-depth technical understanding of the key concepts required to design and build dependable software systems. Successful students will achieve a two-year double Masters through achieving 120ECTS from two of the three partner universities, achieving a degree from each university in which they accomplish 60 ECTS.

Our objective is to provide students with the knowledge, skill and in-depth technical understanding of the key concepts required to design and build dependable software systems. This will be achieved by bringing together the theory and practice of software development and, in particular, through the transfer of knowledge from the classroom via research driven and commercially relevant projects.

Course Co-ordinator: Dr. Joe Timoney

The postgraduate community in the Department of Computer Science is central to our research, and we are committed to expanding the department's role in attracting and graduating high-quality researchers. We're looking for bright students who have achieved high marks in their undergraduate degree. This is typically a first-class honours in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, although students with a second class honours primary degree can also be considered. Typically, a research MSc. takes between one and two years, and a PhD. takes three or four years. A student will usually register for an MSc. initially, and can then transfer to the PhD. register after a year, based upon satisfactory progress. At present our research degrees do not involve coursework.
